Mintje van Lier (1982) is assistent leader of the 2nd violins of the
Radio Kamer Filharmonie and she is a member of the Jenufa Quartet since
2009. At the age of five she started violin lessons with Anneke Schilt
and subsequently Hans Scheepers, Joyce Tan, Mimi Zweig, Chris Duindam en
Lex Korff de Gidts. She obtained her Bachelor Degree at the
Conservatorium of Amsterdam. She continued her studies in Berlin with
Ilan Gronich at the Universität der Künste. In 2009 she obtained her
Diplom en she is now studying for her Konzertexamen.
In 2004-2006 Mintje was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra
under the guidance of conductors like Sir Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink,
Vladimir Ashkenazy, Paavo Jarvi en Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
In 2007 Mintje was admitted to the academy of the Koninklijk
Concertgebouworkest. After her successful completion of the academy
year, Mintje received a bursary from the Bernard Haitink Fonds voor Jong
Talent.
Mintje attended the Zermatt Festival twice with the Sharoun Ensemble of
the Berliner Philharmoniker. Together with family and friends Mintje in
2008 set up the chambermusic festival Musical Remarks which is held
every summer in Loudoun County, Virginia, US. Mintje regularly plays in
orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Rundfunk
Symphonieorchester Berlin and the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest. In
Berlin she plays with the chambermusic group Solistenensemble
Kaleidoscoop.
Mintje van Lier plays a violin built by Johannes Fransiscus Cuypers
(1812), lent by the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds. To finance her
studies in Berlin, Mintje received grants from the Fonds Jong Talent and
the Jonge Musici Fonds. In addition she was supported by the VSBfonds,
the Huygens Scholarship Program and the Fonds voor de Amateurkunst en
Podiumkunsten.
